Random Dendrograms
نویسنده
چکیده
An attempt is made to create some statistical tests for comparing results of hierarchical cluster analysis based on the uniform distribution over the set of all possible dendrograms. Three different uniform distributions are considered according to the degree of similarity of the dendrograms. Some distances between dendrograms are defined and The solutions proposed are computational and are based on the embeding the sets of equivalent dendrograms into the set of lexicographically ordered words.

Large scale evaluation of differences between network-based and pairwise sequence-alignment-based methods of dendrogram reconstruction
Dendrograms are a way to represent evolutionary relationships between organisms. Nowadays, these are inferred based on the comparison of genes or protein sequences by taking into account their differences and similarities. The genetic material of choice for the sequence alignments (all the genes or sets of genes) results in distinct inferred dendrograms. In this work, we evaluate differences be...
متن کاملThe use of dendrograms to describe the electrical activity of motoneurons underlying behaviors in leeches
The present manuscript aims at identifying patterns of electrical activity recorded from neurons of the leech nervous system, characterizing specific behaviors. When leeches are at rest, the electrical activity of neurons and motoneurons is poorly correlated. When leeches move their head and/or tail, in contrast, action potential (AP) firing becomes highly correlated. When the head or tail suck...
متن کاملDegenerating Families of Dendrograms
Dendrograms used in data analysis are ultrametric spaces, hence objects of nonarchimedean geometry. It is known that there exist p-adic representations of dendrograms. Completed by a point at infinity, they can be viewed as subtrees of the Bruhat-Tits tree associated to the p-adic projective line. The implications are that certain moduli spaces known in algebraic geometry are in fact p-adic par...
متن کاملComparison of similarity coefficients used for cluster analysis based on RAPD markers in wild olives.
Five different similarity coefficients (Jaccard, Sorensen-Dice, simple matching, Rogers and Tanimoto, and Russel and Rao) were evaluated and 10 wild olives analyzed with RAPD markers. The influence of the similarity coefficients on wild olives clustering was investigated. Forty-five primers were used on samples from 10 wild olives (Wild 1 and 2 obtained from Mugla province; Wild 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ...
متن کاملGenetic diversity in Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea L.) germplasm revealed by RAPD markers.
Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to assess genetic diversity in Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea L.) germplasm using 25 African accessions from the collection in the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria. Fifty random decamer primers were screened to assess their ability to detect polymorphism in bambara; 17 of them were selected for this...
